Located in the extreme south of Saskatchewan Regina is in the center of Canada's richest agricultural lands. It therefore serves as the major distribution hub for the area. Accordingly, a multitude of farm implement manufacturers is in this area.

Numerous agriculturally related events bring business people to Regina each year. Agribition is the largest farm show in Canada and the fifth largest worldwide. Mexhibition brings a wide variety of local and national companies together to display their technology. The Farm Progress Show showcases the latest in technology and services.

These events have pushed the Regina exhibition facilities to the largest in the country. With its wide diversity of accommodation, Regina attracts such events as the provincial exhibition, the Royal Red Arabian Horse Show and many conventions and trade shows.

Nestled amongst the farmers are a number of potash mines. These are a fine example of the resource diversity of the area.

Oil and gas production, which for many years were confined to the south east, south west, and central west areas of Saskatchewan in now finding new pools in previously neglected areas.

Northern Saskatchewan abounds with forest resources, which support sawmills and board plants. Mining has been strong in this northern area for years, but new procedures are now bringing new activity such as diamond mining.

While coal production has gone on in the southeast area of the province for years there remains sufficient resource to sustain this production for many years to come.

Through its crown utility, SaskPower, the government of Saskatchewan has created a strong electrical supply system using thermal generation and hydro generation. Electrical power is very attractively priced due to the efficiency of this system. This makes the area attractive to manufacturers such as Interprovincial Pipe and Steel, which produces steel pipeline and other profile steel products here in Regina.
